In a multi-layer filtration system, the 2.0–4.0mm Coarse Sand serves as the critical transition layer between fine media and the gravel base. Its larger grain size is specifically engineered to provide high hydraulic conductivity, ensuring that water passes through the bottom of the filter vessel with minimal resistance and zero pressure loss.

Key Features & Benefits:

• Optimized Support Bedding: Effectively holds finer filtration media (like 0.5mm sand or activated carbon) in place, preventing them from clogging the nozzles or lateral collectors at the bottom of the tank.

• Uniform Flow Distribution: The sub-angular to rounded shape of the silica grains promotes an even distribution of water during both the filtration and backwash cycles, eliminating dead zones and “channeling”.

• High Chemical & Thermal Stability: Made from 98%+ pure silicon dioxide, this media is chemically inert and acid-resistant. It will not react with chlorine, ozone, or common water treatment chemicals, maintaining water purity.

• Exceptional Hardness: With a Mohs hardness of 7, these grains resist crushing and abrasion. This means the media maintains its 2-4mm size for years, even in systems with aggressive air-scouring or high-pressure backwash cycles.
